A local woman, named only as Mrs S., has been called a "good, kind mother", even though she freely admits to being a Godless atheist.
Mr S. apparently infiltrated the local good Christian community seven years ago, when her family moved to follow her husband's job. On the surface, they appear much like any other normal family - he works at a local bank, their two children attend school, and she works part-time a nearby nursery school during the day. When the terrible truth was finally revealed, the once-sleepy neighbourhood became embroiled in turmoil.
Godless Mother mingling with unsuspecting "friends" |
Neighbours of the heathen family became suspicious when Mrs S. repeatedly failed to attend church, calling into question her own morality and raising fears for the normal spiritual upbringing of the children. One of Mrs S' good Christian friends offered to take the children to church with her own family, but was angrily rebuked: "Oh, Jill, thank you very much. I do appreciate the kind offer, but we don't really believe in religion, sorry. But do feel free to come back here after church - I've just baked some fresh muffins.", she reportedly spat.
Soon, the entire street knew the awful revelation. These people in their midst, pretending to be a normal, happy, stable family, were in fact quite the opposite - Atheists!
"I'm really shocked.", said a neighbour, "They always seemed to be so normal. They'd go for picnics, play in the park and go to the movies. But now I know it was all a sham. My God, I even let my kids play with their heathen children!" Other reactions to this shameful deception were similar - "We always got on so well, we used to be friends. But now I know that they deny our Lord and Creator, well, it's all changed. Those poor children. I pray every night for them.", said Mr.Blake. "I was at their house once for a coffee morning. It seemed strange that the basement door was always locked. I asked her [Mrs S] about it, and she said it was to stop the kids playing down there - the steps are slippy and her husband keeps his power tools there. But now, I wonder what they really have down there...".
Surprisingly, the local law enforcement officers have failed to act, despite repeated phone calls and complaints. This paper's legal advisor has stated that, bizarrely, denying Jesus is not a criminal offence (yet). Nor is it possible to charge the parents with child abuse or neglect for simply failing their Christian duty to take the children to Church. It is even still legal to not have your children Baptised! (This paper is considering starting a campaign to have this legal failing amended. Write to the editor with your opinion.)
Kind citizens have tried giving Holy Bibles to the family, urging them to read the Good Book. Mrs S. handed them back, viciously, unrepentantly, with apparently kind words and a good-natured smile. The headmaster at the children's school has been urged to make the two children pray, but responded with feeble excuses about "illegality", "unconstitutional" and "encouraging intolerance". How the simple belief in the self-evident truth of the Bible can "encourage intolerance", this reporter does not know!
When challenged to explain how she expected her children to have any sort of decent moral upbringing, "Oh, they`re good kids. We teach them to respect the rights of others, take responsibility for their own actions, and never to harm anyone else. And they do so love learning - they`re always down at the Library borrowing books on dinosaurs and outer space. We`re saving up to buy them a small telescope next year. They`re really excited!", she stated, bitterly. The children have even been heard talking about dinosaurs evolving into birds, but have been politely asked not to discuss such Godless notions with the children of Bible-believing families.
Is it any wonder that this country is suffering a decline in morality, when heathen families are still allowed to live amongst us, spreading dangerous nonsense such as "humanist morality" and "critical thinking"? If the Lord had intended us to think critically, He would have made the Bible ambiguous and open to interpretation, would He not?
This newspaper has always been at the front-line in the battle for reason and tolerance, but when God-deniers worm their way into our very communities, even we find our forgiving, Christian love for all mankind challenged.
