Date: Wed, 27 Oct 1999 You know, I think we have a great deal in common. I suppose that I am somewhat of an antagonist. I love to tell people that I don't believe in God and that the story of Jesus is a bunch of garbage. I love to see their reactions. It is absolutely amazing. You can argue with these people for hours on end, and it will not make any difference. They simply talk in circles, and do not realize it. Here in the USA, there are a great many holy people trying to tell everyone else how to live their lives. Make no mistake about it, they have a great deal of political influence (not as much as they did before the Clinton scandal). Religion will always be an integral part of the human experience, simply because it is just human nature. People need something to believe in. They are like sheep. However, as time goes by, and we become ever more sophisticated, people's reliance on religion will not be as great. |

Subject: Noah's Ark
I was searching for desalination research in the UK in internet and suddenly come across your article Noah's Ark which I read with great interest. It is not very difficult to find out the existence of God if you look around his creation. There are two systems used by God. One systems requires God's wishes to create something (does not require any so called natural process). For example, the creation of Adam and Eve without parents, the creation of Jesus without Father, and all the first living creatures, etc., etc. The second system follows a set rule of God which we call natural process. For example, male and female meet to produce their decendants, etc. God still has the power to grow an apple tree from the seed of a pear, or a monkey from the meeting of man and women and likewise. But that would create chaos in the whole world. For example, you wanted to grow tomatoes and if God did not set the rule then your tomato seed would produce a pear tree and your requirement would not be fulfilled. Therefore, you will find many examples in Bible and in Koran (Muslim Holy Book) where God has done something with the first system which contrdicts the second system so that we can appreciate His power. Moses finding the way in the sea, Abraham living alive in the fire, Noah's Ark, etc. were the examples of application of the first system (which of course is very difficult to conceive by scientists like you and me). Well, that is why the foremost requirement of any religion is the total submission. However, I can guarantee you that the scientific findings until today (and more to come in the future) will never contradict what has been said in the Muslim Holy Book Koran. For that you may want to read the book "Bible, Koran and Science" written by a Christian scientist Maurice Bukailee. This is an excellent book recommended for believers and non-believers. To conclude, since I believe in one God who is the most powerful, it is very easy for me to conceive and believe the story of Noah's ark or others mentioned in the bible and in the Kuran. I hope I did not bother you too much. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further information. May God bless you with all His bounties in this world and in the hereafter. With kind regards Dr. Iqbal Mujtaba Senior Lecturer |

Subject: questions about atheism I read the articles about having morals without a law giver. they
were weak and never explained what is right and what is wrong. How would
I know what is expectable in everyday life? Do I just go off my conscience?
(where did I hope these thoughts were well received. I don't believe that atheists
are misinformed, I just think they are not living life to its full potential.
The ten commandments were not designed as some arbitrary a-moral laws.
they are designed to make life better. It's the same reason that the
Gov. makes speeding laws. To make life safer and better. The reason that a loving God lets suffering go on, is because He is
loving. the definition of True love is giving someone the freedom to
love you back. Love is not a forced thing. the ignoring of the ten commandments
causes pain and suffering. If there was no pain and suffering, there
would be no need to have these laws. The problem is that without pain,
there is no freedom. In order to be free, you have to be free from something. Brett |

Subject: I want to know more. I became a Christian spring of freshman yr in HS and am now a senior, I still question many of the things I'm taught and I know God would not get upset w/me for doubting as long as I don't make a quick, biased verdict w/o searching. If u believe "Christians" are inferior fools, I question the reliability of your info. Cuz evidence after evidence points to an "Intelligent Creator." True scientist knows that evolution is psuedoscience, cuz it cannot be repeated, has not been repeated, and they've had plenty of time to dig up as much fossils as they can to find the "missing link." If evolution exists, the "missing links" should be abundantly scattered around and a thousand times more numerous than dinosaur fossils. However, I am not at all an expert in this area, but if u will allow me to hold u accountable for what u say, please never stop seeking or questioning what u believe, just like how I constantly test my own faith if circumstances don't do that already. The way I see it: The reality of an "Intelligent Creator" is evident and actually proven by science; I feel we stuggle should be struggling with what kind of God is He. This is the way Eienstien felt and I'm w/him, 'cept I've come to place my faith in Jesus Christ with the change in my life to prove it and the truth of the Bible with all massive archeology that supports God's Word. Thankyou for perservering through my e-mail! I hope I have not repeated a good many cliques. His little soldier, |

I read -- with great delight, I will admit -- your article cited above. However, might I make a recommendation for future referrence -- you may wish to put a disclaimer of "Not responsible for spilled drinks, uncontrollable laughter, or incidiary Christians who might spontaneously combust." You might also wish to put a warning that a reader would be well advised to not be drinkng beverages while reading the articles -- I had just taken a large sip of coffee when I started reading, and nearly "decorated" my computer monitor! | Subject: Sunday is Coming!!! Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2000 From: "U-Fraton Cordner" U-Fraton Cordner
Hi Friends, My name is U-Fraton Cordner. I am a Christian but I hope you won't hold that against me. Before I begin this exploration of what I believe will take place very soon, I would like to express my appreciation for the stand that some Atheists are taking regarding the separation of church and state. You are to be congratulated. I must inform you (in case you dont make it through this letter) that the forces who are pushing for a union of church and state will triumph...Very Soon!! I would also like to express my appreciation of Dr. James R. Dew (A.A.W.) for his openness, willingness to listen and his honesty. I can relate to his philosophical journeys and his current choice of belief system. He was willing to share a little piece of his life and this world needs more people like that...period!!! I believe in a personal, loving God; the God of the Bible; who created this planet in six days and rested on the seventh day. Oh, by the way I worship and rest on the Sabbath Day from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. There is nothing on this planet or in the universe that can account for the weekly cycle. The weekly cycle is a domain that selfish, proud, arrogant and wayward mankind cannot touch. You see, time is beyond our reach. Time is a measure of life and our lives are tenuous and fleeting at best. We are highly vulnerable creatures. The Sabbath is the "fingerprint of God"; an "oasis" in time. It has remained untouchable and unexplainable outside a biblical context. Most cultures have the same weekly cycle. The reason is found in Genesis chapters one and two. "In the beginning God created..." I am sorry my friends...you or I can't touch this. Oh yes, in the past some cultures had different weekly cycles. Those were attempts at erasing the "finger print" so to speak. They didn't want to retain a knowledge of God, so they attempted to erase the most obvious, compelling and pervasive testimony there is. I mean.... who doesn't have a calendar?!? Case in point: the Babylonian and Russian (Communist & Atheist) "empires". Both "empires" were against the God of heaven. One kingdom built the tower of babel in defiance of God. But...theres that nasty weekly cycle and the Sabbath...."weve gotta get rid of that evidence"!!!! They tried and failed. The Atheistic empire attempted to change the weekly cycle. They weren't stupid. They understood the implications of God's "fingerprint" showing up 52 times a year!!! Burning bibles, arresting and torturing Christians and repossessing church property wasn't going to be enough. The attempt failed as did the whole communist experiment. Why is the Sabbath important to God? God is longsuffering, loving and honest; and perfectly so. He above all, respects our freedom of choice; We are free to love and obey Him and others but are also free to think only of ourselves and our desires. As a result, we also feel the consequences and the pain of the choices that we and others make. God is not going to manipulate or force our decision making processes. The Sabbath is just one of His many quiet ways of trying to open the eyes of mankind. It is His little reminder. Man may choose to close his eyes and/or make up some good sounding narratives (fables) about his origins; but none can touch the "fingerprint". Oh yes, He does have some not so quiet ways of getting our attention. If you are a parent you would understand. Sometimes the best (or worst) thing we can do to or for our children is to let them have their own way. I want to share something with you that you will find even more incredulous and ridiculous than what has already been written. There is a law of entropy that states that order can be brought out of chaos when there is a maximum (or is that minimum) of two groups within a systemone group is an even better situation. Have you ever heard of the biblical saying of "separating the sheep from the goats"? God is going to bring order out of chaos very soon!!!! The two groups?!?!? One group is comprised of those who keep the commandments of God, including the fourth which says to remember the Sabbath day which is the seventh-day. They will be subjected to persecution and death. The other group is called Babylon, which means confusion. It is an amalgamation of all false religions (which includes atheism), who achieve a common ground as narrow as a razors edge. The leader of this group?!?!? Lucifer....but since you don't believe in the existence of God's highest created being, who has been warring against His government and spreading a 1,000,001 lies about Him; and who if he had a chance would (with relish) snuff out your life and mine as easily as one blows out a candle....(breathe)....I will then tell you about the major agencies that he has and will use as fronts for his final assault against God, His character and the people who choose to follow Him. The Papacy (Vatican or Catholic Church) and the United States (urged on by the religious right and ecumenicalism) will be the major power brokers. All religions (except one) will unite under the spiritual authority of the office of the pope. This movement has been under way ever since the Vatican received back her lands and statehood from Mussolini in 1929. This healed the "Deadly or Fatal Wound" that was dealt to it in 1798 when General Berthier took the Pope captive. One by one, protestant bodies and religious leaders have acknowledged the Pope as the Spiritual Head of the World. The Anglican church will sign an accord this May in Toronto recognizing the Pope as the spiritual head of both churches. Biblical prophecies that predicted these events identify the papacy as the little horn (Daniel 7), exceedingly great horn (Daniel 8 & 9), the amalgamated beast (Rev 13) and the whore (Rev 17). All these prophecies point to a power that would change God's law, exalt itself above the angels and God, and persecute the people of God. The papacy has eliminated the 1st commandment, changed the Sabbath to the 1st day of the week and killed (tortured most) anywhere from 50 to 100 million people during its reign. The pope is called the "Vicar of Christ" which means in the Greek, Anti-Christ or substitute for Christ. The Popes have claimed infallibility, equality with the Omnipotent One, and the power to set up and depose kings at will. Compare Daniel Chapter 7 with Revelation Chapter 12 and 13 (also Daniel 8 & 9 Pagan and Papal Rome). They describe the same persecuting power (Papal Rome) and the same period of time that they would rule ---- 3 & ½ prophetic years = 1260 prophetic days or years ( 3.5yr x 360days/yr) = 42 prophetic months (42mth x 30days/mth). Papal Rome had absolute sway from 538 A.D. after destroying the Ostrogoths, Heruli and the Vandals (3 horns plucked up Daniel 7:8,24); because of their refusal to bow to the Papacy and for their Aryan beliefs. This dark age lasted until 1798. This period was called the dark ages because there was no freedom to think and worship as to the dictates of ones own conscience. The Bible wasn't allowed (you'd be executed) to be in the possession of the common people and superstition kept the people in virtual slavery. As a result the Vatican is one of the wealthiest and most influential organizations in the world. The Whore of Rev 17 represents this Church that is rich, dressed in purple and scarlet (what the cardinals and bishops wear) and sits upon a scarlet beast which it controls. The scarlet beast represents the civil or secular powers. The Bible says the 7 heads of the beast represent the seven mountains that the great city sits upon. That sounds like ROME to me; the "City of Seven Hills". The Vatican is the only church that has ambassadors from almost every country located there. The United States is represented by the second beast of Rev. 13 (also called the false prophet) with two horns, coming out of the earth; and it will cause all to worship the beast and to make an image to the beast. The only remaining super power will urge the secular powers to be under Anti Christs religious authority. This will form an image or a replica of the papal rule during the Dark Ages. Before Lucifer spellbinds the world with his impersonation of Christ, which will please religious and irreligious, organized and disorganized groups (atheists and agnostics included), the Papacy will compel the civil authorities to enforce the observance of the 1st day of the week as a holy day. Those who agree to this will receive the mark of the beast which is Sunday worship; a sign of loyalty to the Papacy. The papacy claims that Her changing the Sabbath from the 7th day to the 1st day of the week is the "Mark" of her authority to rule in spiritual as well as temporal matters. This Sunday legislation at first may be cloaked under the guise of some pro family / pro working class / pro environmental statue. This "Great Controversy" or war between Christ and Lucifer will be fought between the ears. Each person will choose who they are loyal to based on "Who" and "how" (which day) they worship. Sound far fetched?!? I will give you two recent exhibits. First, the "Holy Alliance" (more like Unholy) between Ronald Reagan and Pope John II that precipitated the demise of Communism in the Eastern Block. This was on the front cover of Time Magazine and several books have been written about it since. This a preview of what will happen in the future. The world's only super power will cause all secular powers to bow to the wishes of the Vatican. Second, the Pope's letter "Dies Domini" which calls on the civil authorities to ensure that Sunday can be observed by Christians. Why bother harassing you with this lengthy letter?!? First of all, this is only the tip of the tip of the iceberg of what could be said and the time will be soon at hand. You say it will never happen?!? People are too intelligent and sophisticated to fall for that?!? Just remember that Hitler came to power during a time of great crisis; both of national identity and socioeconomic stresses. From my understanding of Bible truth, I see some earth shattering calamities on the horizon; economic, social, tribal (cultural or ethnic), religious and natural. Maybe all at the same time. Desperate people don't ask or question the hand that is supposedly extended to help during a time of Extreme Crisis; especially, if that hand is backed by the most powerful supernatural being that God has ever created along with a few billion of his angelic friends. There will be no sitting on the fence either. Even though one may not totally agree with the philosophy and methods of the "Image to the Beast", by obeying its laws they will be placing themselves against God and for Lucifer. Dont you find it surprising that a so called Christian Church fully embraces the theory of evolution and Darwins book "Origins"?!? Max Planck once said that "A scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it." (Planck 33,34) Many are not aware that the theory has its basis in Babylon mysticism and Greek Philosophy. Many are also unaware that the Catholic Church is also steeped in pagan philosophies (Babylonian, Egyptian, Persian, Greek, Roman etc., etc.). Wherever She goes in the world She allows the people to incorporate their belief systems into Hers. The Churchs beliefs, symbols and architecture are mostly pagan in their origin. For example, Peters Statue was originally to the Roman Deity Jupiter; only the name plate was replaced. Go to St. Peters Basilica (and several others worldwide) and you will find them covered in pagan symbols like the zodiac, solar wheels, gargoyles etc., etc. Mary worship is just a facade for the worship of Diana and other pagan female deities. Let us take a look at just a few other beliefs that have its origin in paganism. Fixity of species is not a Biblical concept. The Bible doesnt address the topic at length. The Roman Church accepted the Aristotelean (Greek) philosophy of the "fixity of species" that many attribute to the Bible. Aristotle didnt believe in special creation by the way. The concept of a flat earth was not widely held throughout ancient times but the Roman Church adopted it and its origin is also found in paganism. Darwin is not the originator of evolutionary concepts. The former theology major just put his spin on it; like McDonalds popularization of the hamburger. He most likely was influenced by his grandfather Erasmus who in turn borrowed from antiquity. This is a quote from his book Zoononia: "In the great length of time since the earth began to exist, perhaps millions of years ago, would it be too bold to imagine that all warm blooded animals have arisen from one living filament?"(Wheeler 49) The following are some quotes from philosophers who may have influenced Erasmus: "Empedocles (490-430 B.C.) believed that originally the world contained creatures with every possible combination of limbs and other organs, since only parts of animals came into existence first. Hate for a time kept the parts separate, but love eventually allowed them to join at random. Modern species are those that survived after nature winnowed the odd assemblages out." (Wheeler 23) The philosophy of Anaximander should have a familiar ring to it: "The first animals were generated in the moisture, and were enclosed within spiny barks. As they grew older, they migrated onto the drier land; and, once their bark was split and shed, they survived for a short time in the new mode of existence. (Ibid. 22) In another passage he says: "Man to begin with was generated from living things of another kind, whereas others can hunt quickly for their own food, men alone require prolonged nursing. If he had been like that in the beginning, he would never have survived Thus men were formed within these [fishlike creatures] and remained within them like embryos until they had reached maturity. Then at last the creatures burst open, and out of them came men and women who were already able to fend for themselves." (Ibid. 22) Here is one even more ancient: "It seems that the ancient Ninevites looked up into the sky one day as they heard the sound of some type of missile streaking towards the earth. The ever-descending object was a gigantic egg! It fell directly into the Euphrates River and down onto the river floor. It did not even crack. The legend says that after the egg had softly settled down on the bottom of the river a large school of fish came to the egg and rolled it up onto the shore away from the water " (Strongfellow 33) This egg eventually hatched, and the Moon Goddess Ishtar emerged. Ishtar is where we get the name Easter which involves eggs, rabbits etc. The concept of a cosmic egg or proto atom is pagan. The Big Bang Theory (cosmic egg revisited) was invented by a "Belgian Priest, George Lemaitre, improved upon by an avowed atheist, George Gamou and is now all but universally accepted by those who hold advanced degrees in astronomy and the physical sciences, despite its obvious absurdity."(Cherry 44) It appears that the universe had its origins from a singular cause; but it was not from an explosion as we know them to be. The word "explosion" is too limited in its context and scope to adequately express the awesomeness of that singular event. Explosive aftermaths are not finely tuned to 1 part in 1045. Our universe began as a single word which was expressed in infinite power at rates that boggle the imagination. The whole process was and continues to be, orchestrated with finely tuned precision. Explosions as we know them do not create, they destroy. The Bible says: By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth...For he spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast (Psalms 33:6,9 K.J.V.). Other versions of these philosophies as well as philosophies from other pagan cultures were vying for the mastery during the Dark Ages. Eventually the Greek philosophy supported by the church lost out to the more evolutionary philosophies made popular by Charles Darwin; but scientists believe that by supporting evolution they are rejecting supposedly Biblical concepts. They are wrong. Unfortunately some of these pagan philosophies still linger on; some of their priests are now scientists (or visa versa). Should we be surprised that the current Pope has embraced evolution?!? Roman Catholicism collects pagan philosophies like some girls collect barbies. Now its set is almost complete. It is all too easy to deceive people. It doesnt matter what is your education. How many people really understand the historical development of evolution or of the Papacy for that matter? You wont find it in laboratory test tubes. You cant deduce it by experimental analysis. Dust off your history books!! Go to Europe!!! The conscious mind can just as easily believe a lie as the truth; and we have all believed lies at one time or another. Life, emotions, volition, spirituality can only be passed on or bequeathed
by those who possess those attributes. Elements, compounds and simple
amino acids, do not inherently possess those qualities. On special occasions
like Christmas (its origins are pagan by the way) we give what we already
acquired by buying, making, inheriting or maybe even stealing. No entity,
animate or inanimate, can give what it doesnt inherently possess.
You cant get blood out of a stone, though some may try(Canada
Revenue). I would love to give some family members and friends lots
of different gifts. Some I possess and some I do not. Corpses do not
conceive and slabs of meat do not give rise to life let alone flies
or maggots. Life does not originate from what is dead. That is true
scientific reasoning. What do we observe about our vast and expanding universe? The first cause of perpetual motion must be omnipotent. The first cause of limitless variety must be omniscient. The first cause of this multidimensional space time continuum must be omnipresent. The first cause of love must be loving. The first cause of will must be volitional. The first cause of creative abilities must be Creator. The first cause of harmony is musical. The first cause of religious values must be spiritual. The first cause of law must be moral in nature. The first cause of social values must be Personal. The first cause of feeling must be emotional. The first cause is the God revealed to us in the Bible. He is the same one who took on humanity and died for us and His name is Jesus Christ. He is the one who spoke the law from Mt. Sinai in Arabia. The law was written on two tablets; The first four commandments on one side the other six hidden on the backside. Just like the universe which has ten dimensions; four visible dimensions with the other six invisibly curled beside each dimensional unit. The Roman Church will be your church!!! She is the "Mother of All Harlots". She accepts all and will rule all except one. That means you and your atheistic colleagues will be intimately involved in the final conflict and could be on the side of the enemy; the wrong side and the losing side. If it werent for the preservation of the scriptures and the Protestant Reformation, wed all still be in darkness. If it wasnt for the printing of the Bible, all (including atheists) would be saying a few "Hail Marys" or would face torture, or be burned at the stake. By the way Stalin and Hitlers regimes borrowed the science of torturing from the Papal textbook. If you go to Europe you can still go on tours of church basements where youll find all their favorite implements. It wasnt just Protestants, Muslims and Jews who suffered at the Vaticans hands. Honest Catholics were also dispatched. For example, all Catholics (and Protestants) in the city of Albi were slaughtered because they refused to hand over their protestant neighbours to the Papal Armies. Dont you find it surprising that the gentleman responsible for the mass printing (mechanical) of the Bible (the first book) was hunted down for years and finally was burned at the stake?!? I dont have to tell you which religious institution was responsible. His name was William Tyndale by the way. They also burned any Bibles that they could find but it was too late. The people were too long in papal/pagan darkness. They hungered after the word and longed for the freedom to believe and worship as they saw fit. "Thy word is a light unto my feet and a light unto my path" (Ps 119:105). By the way Atheistic Russia also burned Bibles and executed Bible believers. You see, your history does have something in common with the papacy. Mark my words: Persecution of Bible believers will return on a global scale very soon. The Papal Belief system will make it so. Jesus said, "...yea the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service" and Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my names sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another"(Jn 16:2 & Matt 24:9,10). The Papal reign of terror will return on a global scale but it wont last for 1000 years; Thank God. When that time comes, will Atheists then Kiss the Popes Toe?!? Speaking of religion.... From the plethora of Atheistic Sites that I have had the pleasure of visiting, I have noticed that some equate religion with the belief in a higher or transcendent being. Religion is a set or system of beliefs...period. They may be held by one person or a group of persons. A religion may or may not be backed by supporting institution(s). All wars, conflicts, acts of violence, disagreements, arguments, etc., are the direct result of religious disputes. The First act of murder was a family dispute over religion. Conflicts between individuals and family members are religious conflicts. Every person has some set of beliefs, therefore everyone is religious. Beliefs may be verbalized but they dont have to be; and this is not the only evidence of ones beliefs. Jesus said "...by their fruits ye shall know them" (Matt 7:16,20). Apple trees produce apples (if they are worth anything) because they are. Peoples actions demonstrate what they believe. I just dont believe people should be set upon for having different views. The Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc of Nations are recent examples of State Religion, or a Union between Church and State. Atheism was the religion of these countries and they systematically suppressed the freedom of all other rivals. Millions of Moslems, Christians, Jews and Atheists (Communists) perished in this religious conflict. The Fascist regimes of six decades ago were also State Religions and again millions of rivals perished. Secularism and Materialism are religions as well. There are many Christians who by their actions show themselves to be Materialists and Secularists. Its is difficult not to be materialistic these days. What I also found intriguing was how many sites advocated a "Freedom from Religion" platform. I must say that I was saddened by this catchy phraseology. The only three ways (let me know if you come across others) to be free of ones own religion or set of beliefs are to: 1. Become a lower life form; i.e. animal, mineral, vegetable. 2. Become comatose. 3. Cease to exist commonly known as death. The Bible teaches that death is a complete and total loss of consciousness. Belief in a vapour like soul body is Pagan, most particularly Greek. This is the goal of some far Eastern Religions...Nirvana...the great eternal nothingness; or eternal death which is what Lucifer is counting on us choosing. So what these people are actually saying is that they want some kind of harm to come to themselves. This is not good. I am all for the separation of church and state and freedom of religion. I do appreciate the contributions that some atheists are making in these areas; but freedom from religion is Jones Town, Heaven Gates, the Solar Temple, etc. etc. It is going a little too far. The Bible speaks out against murder, including self murder. My church has been waiting, watching and teaching these same scriptural truths for more than150 yrs. Weve watched as the Popes office grew in prominence as people forget the awful history and track record of this blood thirsty power. We've watched as one by one the protestant groups have bowed to the papacy they once identified as the Anti- Christ. We watched as a fledgling country blossomed against all rivals into the ONLY Super power. If you are interested there is a book written by the most prolific female writer of all time that chronicles the last 1900 yrs since the destruction of Jerusalem (A.D. 70) and on into the future. It was written over a hundred years ago. It is called "The Great Controversy" by E.G. White. Everything is almost ready. Just a few more players to sign on. When the earth is reeling the rest will sign "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye", If they havent before then. They will have signed over their right to eternal life. Remember, the Imposter shows up before Christ returns. His dazzling appearance will be appealing to all religionist, agnostics, atheists, etc., etc. That includes those on the S.E.T.I. fan list. Yes, his coming will please and deceive those who are hooked on extraterrestrials and U.F.O.s. Why not, he is the mastermind behind the alien hype in Hollywood, the scientific community and the paranormal community. He and his fallen friends are super intellects that have access to at least one more dimension. We are physically powerless against them but in Christ we are spiritually invincible. My Church believes among other things in the freedom to believe and/or worship to the dictates of ones own conscience. We also believe in the separation of church/belief system and state. I consider Atheism to be a belief that there is a Godless Universe and a system of beliefs is defined as a religion. My church has a whole department devoted to Religious Liberty; and I am the Religious Liberty Leader for the local Prince George congregation. Liberty Magazine is a publication that prominent and influential thought leaders in North America receive. That list would include Presidents, Prime Ministers, Judges and Lawyers to name just a few. Its topics are Religious freedom, Church and State separation and other constitutional matters. The articles are written by people with varying belief systems. I have nothing against Atheists personally; I just dont agree with their point of view. I believe God gives everyone the freedom to choose beliefs, including the inherent consequences. I can even understand why someone would hold to that belief system. Thank-you for allowing me to express what I currently believe. My understanding and knowledge is growing and changing with every passing moment.

That has to be the weakest argument i have ever heard, first of all the bible doesn't tell you what happened for real, it tells you stories which have moral meanings. For you to use that point in an argument gives me the impression that you believe that the world was created in 6 days, anyone that does really is thick as shit. From all the work you put into doing this page i think so must live a kind of sad life, usually its people that are really into religion that right pages like this promoting it but you actually took the time to write about something you DON'T believe in. |

I just wanted to write to say thank you. I am not an atheist. I am a baptized, 1st communion, confirmed, married, the whole nine yards roman catholic, but I have my doubts. Perhaps they stem from a grade school question asked to Father Smith, "Where did God come from?" He had no memorable answer. Now, caught up in the battle against depression and co-dependency I was advised to seek help by going to Co-dependents anonymous meetings, or to Al-Anon or something similar. Eager for help I started researching the 12 steps and their derivatives on the internet. I was horrified to find I was supposed to place myself in the hands of God and trust in Him to fix everything. Yada yada yada. Vastly discouraged I turned toward the mystical magical side of things, paganism, wicca etc. and while I am no more convinced that THEIR gods and goddesses exist, at least their beliefs and practices seem to make a bit more sense, tend to be more respectful toward womankind, and they don't try to force themselves on you. Religious rape, what a concept. Tonight my estranged (soon to be ex) husband tried to tell me I should quit searching for my own spirituality and just come back to what is "right." As we were at MacDonalds I refused to get into it, but I did tell him I gave up being Catholic for Lent. He was not amused. But, angry at the my way or the highway mentality I turned to the internet for ammunition. My first intention was to comment on the validity or not of the 10 commandments, then to launch into just because one man believes it is so and has millions of followers (i.e. Hitler's Nazi Germany) that doesn't make it "RIGHT." Then I found you and the alternative 10 commandments... pressing the back button led me to your page and then to the discussion regarding proving GodX exists. Thank you thank you thank you... it's wonderful to see my own arguments
and misgivings so simply spelled out and Thanks again for the enlightenment, Jennifer Lacy |

| Subject: hi Date: Thu, 16 Mar 2000 From: "Mark Seites" Dear Adrian, the question i'm going to address is " where did all that water
come from?" another point i would like to argue is that you must not have ever read the book of Genesis, because when you figure out the cubits it was only a tad bit bigger then a modern day ocean liner. thank you for your open mind ness. next time you make a page will you research it a little, and consider all the info you receive, because after all, you have an open mind. I do not intend to criticize your site, but it only seems that you read books that only appealed to your opinion and supported your theory. again thank you, and if you have any questions feel free to contact me. later |

Subject: Pope's apology You forgot to mention the current-day corruption of the Catholic Church in regard to the system of selecting priests that denies the priesthood to heterosexual married men (or women) and instead attracts large numbers of pedophiles who use the opportunity to molest altar boys. Despite the numbers of lawsuits and court trials, the church continues to accept perverts in the priesthood (even going so far as to build treatment centers for them in New Mexico) rather than open the priesthood to normal people. I would be interested in knowing how many people have abandoned the Catholic Church because of the continuing corruption. Kat |

Subject: hello
'. I couldn't help but wonder why, if there was a benevolent God looking after us all, did so many people suffer and die all around the world - He didn't seem to be doing His job very well" "Apart from the obvious question of what the heck is God doing sorting out parking spaces when children are starving to death in Africa," Hello adrian I have read some articles on your website and i found these 3 quotes from it that id like to briefly talk about. First id like to say that all of the things you said have to do with
2 religoen which are evidently flawed in every way. Jews think they are a special chosen people which is a racist assumption Christians believe in myths and they are in fact idol worshippers There are many good christians in this world but they have to understand that what they believe in ( son of God etc....) are notions created by man there are many flaws in the bible and the torah Both are very much sexists doctrines too If God does exist surely he would not be sexist ( God has no sex) You say how could there be a God if there is so much suffering in this world......... The only reason there is suffering is not because of the abscense of
a God.... if all human beings worked together in unity things would be much different For example, the United states has an immense amount of food production, the largest in the world they COULD surely feed many starving countries but does it .....NO does any country really care about the other only if there is something in it for them No The only reason people die, suffer , starve, is because of humanity not because of God. We have the power and we have the free will to fix things up but people dont care they dont give a crap Why does God allow it? the question you should be asking is Why do WE allow it? Now, i believe in God It is up to us to say to the religionist, ""You have made an assertion. It is your responsibility to demonstrate the truth of that assertion. If your claims hold up, then you are rational. If your claims do not hold up and you continue to believe as you do, then you are irrational." ok now i can present to you HARD SCIENTIFIC PROOF which you can SEE AND READ that proves the existence of God....... I am sure you would never have come across this Hard proof people are very ignorant All you have to do is email and i will be glad to send it to you As a religoes person i accept the challenge of the athiest and i am prepared to share with you this SCIENTIFIC PROOF ( not quotes from the bible dealing with jesus tc......) atheists are always interested with SCience i can provide you with this proof all you have to do is reply corrosiv@hotmail.com and you will recieve it Regards, |

Subject: The Meaning of Life
Dear Mr. Barnett, I'm writing this in response to the paper on your web page titled "The Meaning of Life". It was presented to me by someone I work with. This person professes to be either an agnostic or an atheist (I think he leans toward agnosticism) and asked me if I would be interested in reading it. When I read your paper something struck me as very odd and upon further reflection I realized that you had made a huge blunder in your reasoning. I couldn't believe that you wrote the paper and didn't see it (from all the writings on your web page it seems to me that you have put a lot of thought into your beliefs) so I thought about it some more and couldn't see a way around it. You seem to also have misrepresented the theists position. Let me explain. You wrote, "One of the major misconceptions about atheists is that we have little or no respect for life - human or otherwise. Because we think that all life is some accidental freak of nature there is no meaning or purpose to it all, and it is all pretty worthless. We cannot possibly gain the same enjoyment and fulfillment from living that believers do. We care nothing for the suffering of others, as they're all just wormfood in the end." You later say, "Some theists seem to have this bizarre notion that atheists are sad, dreary selfish people who only ever consider themselves, have no concern for anyone else and mope around all day wondering how they can get to Heaven without having to believe in Jesus and be nice to people. You may have heard this from speaking with Fundamentalists but this is not the argument presented by the theists that I have talked with. Your argument is a strawman. The theists do not say that atheists "have no respect for life - human or otherwise" but rather than the atheist has no justification/basis for the respect that they do have for life. You said, "However, as an atheist, I consider all (well most) life to be sacred." Why? Do you have a cogent justification for why you think life is sacred or is it just your feeling or opinion? No one would argue that you don't feel that way (that would be irrational) but one would wonder why is it that you consider life sacred rather than, say, here to do with as we please (human or otherwise). That is the question that theists ask atheists when the question of the meaning of life is broached. Now, on to your blunder. After making your statements above you later
say, "There is no meaning to life. There is no purpose to the universe.
You can, however, give life meaning through your actions. Make the world
a better place for yourself, your contemporaries, and your descendents."
Now, this is where the red flags start shooting up and where the Robot
says, "Danger, Will Robinson! Danger." One has to wonder that
if life is meaningless and purposeless how is it that we can act in
such a way that would then give meaning and purpose to our lives? I
assume that when you say life is meaningless you are referring to ultimate
meaning not relative meaning since in another place you say, "Yes
life on this planet is a lucky accident, probably similar to countless
other emergences of life on other planets. No, there is no particular
purpose or meaning behind it all - why should there be? What right do
we have to consider ourselves special?" I wonder how it is you
know so much about the emergences of life on other planets let alone
a countless number of them. I smell the rat of circular reasoning here
but that is tangential. Are you not assuming that our actions have meaning,
purpose and value? How else could they give life meaning, purpose and
value? But what is your justification for assuming that our actions
have meaning, purpose and value? If life has no meaning, value and purpose
then it logically follows that our actions have no meaning, value and
purpose. Sure, you can talk about helping others and doing great things,
etc. makes ones life important or meaningful because it influenced others
or affected the course of history but this only shows a relative significance
to one's life not an ultimate significance. Suppose that the Big Bang
never occurred. Suppose the universe never existed. What Cheers, Dean M. Covalt
