I was brought up as a nominal believer in the church of England.. Before I was 10 I was becoming interested in science and astronomy and what the stars and moon were and what clouds did and such. I was sent to Sunday school and told of a benevolent old geezer with a white beard floating round up there waiting for me to die and snooping on my every move. The thought imposed itself that I was been given a line here . I was being lied to. . That was the beginning of my lifetime atheism. The point I really want to make is how appalled I am when the "Religious" assume that without god we have no moral sense. I really get cross about that. What is more I have heard it said that "without god how can you wonder at the beauty and majesty of nature!" As a nature lover and amateur artist I couldn't wonder and delight in
nature and its wonders more. |
